Casual or Street Foods

I created this menu because I have witnessed a significant increase in demand for Pig Roasts and BBQs. I believe that Pig Roasts and BBQ are popular today because they can easily provide a less formal setting and more “casual” feel. There is also the perceived notion that they are very affordable compared to a more formal and traditional wedding reception menu. The food cost of the total invoice is typically less expensive, however the service and equipment rental costs are not necessarily any less expensive than are they would be at a wedding reception with a more formal dinner menu.

Since these menus do not represent the typical American wedding reception fare, they enable the bride and groom to step away from contemporary wedding rituals and help to create a more casual, festive and celebratory atmosphere for your northern Michigan wedding reception.

Greek Festival w/ Gyros and Felafel

First Course

  • Hummus, Babaganouj and feta and walnut dip with pita
  • Stuffed grape leaves with semi-dried tomato, marinated artichokes, and assorted olives

Second Course

  • Lamb and Beef Gyro: Roasted golden brown on a vertical rotisserie, gyro meat is shaved and then served with grilled pita with the assorted condiments listed below.
  • Falafel: Croquettes of chick pea, garlic, fresh parsley and Mediterranean spices browned golden and served on grilled pita with the assorted condiments listed below.
  • Fix’ins:
  • Grilled / warmed pita bread
  • Romaine lettuce, red onion, tomato and feta cheese
  • Basmati Rice Pilaf: prepared with pine nuts, scallions and coriander and allspice.
  • Fresh cucumber tatziki prepared with fresh yogurt, sour cream, lemon and dill

  • Baklava: Filo pastry filled with dusted walnuts, cinnamon and honey baked golden brown.

  • Shrimp Kebobs: Tiger shrimp rubbed with olive oil, lemon, pepper, coarsely crack coriander and grilled moist and tender.
  • Fix’ins:
  • Grilled / warmed pita bread
  • Caponata: Fresh zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant and red peppers stewed with fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil and currents
  • Basmati Rice Pilaf: prepared with pine nuts, scallions and coriander and allspice.
